BIOMETRIC FINGERPRINT E-COMMERCE USAGE AND APPLICATION

EXAMPLE 1

Device : a desktop biometric fingerprint reader : Electronic Pay Terminal, USB type.

Purpose : biometric authorization of electronic payment : public sector, e.g. Store or supermarket chains.

Providing the highest level of security and reliability while authorizing any transactions (non-cash payment) made using payment cards with built-in chip (microprocessor cards Smart Card type). While paying, an owner of a payment card will be asked to authorize the transaction by placing a registered finger directly on a built-in fingerprint reader in the Electronic Pay Terminal. If the authorization of the user, that is verification of digital fingerprint image, is correct, the authorization will be accepted and the planned action performed. Otherwise, transaction will be rejected or the person making the purchase will be asked to place another registered finger once again.

Up until now it was necessary to either properly sign the printout or memorize and enter PIN codes.

If the payment card with a stored biometric pattern (digital fingerprint image) is lost or stolen, there is no possibility of the card being used by an unauthorized person.

EXAMPLE 2

Device : a desktop biometric fingerprint reader, USB type.

Purpose : authorization of users logging in to any IT systems. Providing the highest level of security and reliability while:

  • logging in to operating systems (MsWindows, Linux)
  • logging in to Internet sites
  • logging in to dedicated IT networks
  • logging in to medical systems
  • authorizing trade transactions
  • authorizing electronic transfers
  • other

In order to gain access to a given system the user will be asked to place registered finger directly on a fingerprint reader. If authorization of the user, that is verification of digital fingerprint image, is correct, the authorization will be accepted and the planned action performed.

Up until now it was necessary to memorize and enter logins and passwords.
