DETAILED TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF BIOFINGER-T&A/MIFARE SYSTEM OPERATION

Biometric fingerprint Time and Attendance systems [BIOFINGER-T&A/MIFARE], based on fingerprint readers BIOFINGER.xxxM-T&A series with a built-in MIFARE proximity cards module, are aimed for:

  • electronic record of employee attendance
  • electronic record of work hours
  • work time control
  • accounting for actual work hours

of registered users (employees).

Biometric fingerprint readers can register 2, 4, 6 or more T&A statuses, so-called events:

  • start-end work hours
  • on-duty in/out (business)
  • off-duty in/out (personal)
  • other

A biometric reader has got 6 function buttons, memory storage of up to 1.500 digital fingerprint images and records up to 30.000 events. All events (T&A statuses) are stored in the internal memory of the biometric readers. Data is sent and downloaded from the biometric terminal using:

  • local LAN network
  • wide WAN network
  • RS232/485 serial communications

    • or optionally:

  • WIFI network
  • GPRS network
  • PenDrive device

DETAILED TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF USER AUTHORIZATION

Users of a biometric system [BIOFINGER-T&A/MIFARE] after choosing a proper T&A status position a MIFARE card (1k, 2k or 4k) near a biometric reader then follow with placing one of the registered (stored on the MIFARE card) fingers directly on the optical scanner and wait for correct authorization of the digital image of a fingerprint. An identification of a digital fingerprint image lasts approx. 0,5 sec. in 1:1 mode.


PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Personal data which an employer is allowed to process (accordingly to the Act on Personal Data Protection and the Labor Code) are name and surname of an employee and the ID number of a proximity card, MIFARE type, owned by the employee. The RFID card with a surprint may also be treated as a permanent pass. An employer may record (process) only serial numbers (ID numbers) of the proximity cards. What is important, the employer, while processing employee personal data in BIOFINGER-T&A/MIFARE system and BIOFINGER/SW software, may only use the name and surname of the employee and the ID number of the proximity card owned by the employee.

The main idea behind using [BIOFINGER-T&A/MIFARE] system operating in MIFARE technology is creating a situation where the employees themselves, not the employer, process their personal data.

These solutions remain to offer a 100% guarantee of a person’s (e.g. an employee) identity. Correct authorization is not possible without using a registered MIFARE card and placing one of the registered fingers on an optical scanner.

A biometric reader, while authorizing a user, verifies only if the biometric data (digital fingerprint images stored on a biometric MIFARE card) match with the digital fingerprint images read (scanned) in real time.
